GENERAL DESCRIPTION
AREA: Pepieux is a typical village of the Minervois area located between the Canal du Midi and the Montagne Noire, within the hills of the Mediterranean country side. The village of 1.000 inhabitants is nested among pines, wineyards, lakes and rocky clifs. The surroundings abound with off-road mountain bike tracks and hiking pathes. Furthermore, the region has alarge historical background : Cathare, churches, abbeys, etc. Narbonne, Carcassonne and Bezier are only 30km away. Bathing facilities awaits you at the lake of Jouarres (2km) and the Mediterranean sea is only ½ hour drive away (45km). At Pepieux, you can play tennis, ride, play golf, raft down the river or simply visit the local market places or the subterranean caves.
MAISON: Very nice delicately decorated fully renovated old style house with private garden. This house is built on the former walls of the middle age city, was first transformed in a wine cellar, then later in 2002/2003 in a private house.
In this calm environment, you are only 3 minutes walk away from the central market place where you will find every shops and services needed (baker, post office, supermarket, chemist) You can reach the surrounding vineyard hills as fast by walking through the small roads of the medieval village.
